Our full review

This is one of the very best guides to sorting out your sleep we’ve ever read.

Sleeping badly is both cause and effect of many mental and physical health issues, and getting good rest is crucial for wellbeing. Of course, most people are all-too aware of this, and not sleeping becomes a source stress and anxiety in itself.

The Sleep Book has the answer to all of this. It sets out a practical programme you can follow to let go of any anxiety about sleep and recover a natural sleeping pattern. The programme is based on solid research and a very helpful technique called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is useful for many issues, and ideal for addressing insomnia.

We have just one quibble with this otherwise excellent book: several times, it mentions dieting as an example of acceptance and commitment. We would really question that, given the well-known damaging effects of diet culture and the complexity of food and body image issues.

That issue aside, The Sleep Book can give you the tools and knowledge to interrupt the cycle of exhaustion and worry, and reset your sleep. We highly recommend it.
