I am a qualified counsellor and a member of COSCA.
My aim is to provide a warm, welcoming and confidential space to explore what feels important to you, whether there is a particular issue on your mind or you simply wish to understand yourself better. My training in psychodynamic and person-centred therapy at the University of Edinburgh allows me to draw on different therapeutic perspectives in order to best meet the individual needs of my clients. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on our self-awareness and understanding of how the unconscious past influences the present. The person-centred approach trusts in the individual’s inner resources and aims to facilitate growth through acceptance, authenticity and empathy.
I work with adult clients dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, loss, trauma, existential crisis and identity, and relationship patterns and problems. I have a particular interest in working with people struggling with life transitions (e.g. starting or leaving university or a career, starting a family, navigating new or changing relationships). I offer short term and long term counselling, depending on your circumstances. You may feel that a set of twelve sessions will give you sufficient space to explore a particular issue that’s been on your mind, or perhaps you are interested in longer term psychotherapy for a more in-depth experience.
My standard session fee is £45 for 50 minutes. I accept cash and credit/debit cards.
