Making the decision to start counselling can feel like a huge step.  It’s also important that you choose a therapist that feels right for you, and that too may feel daunting.

Perhaps you’ve been struggling alone, feel overwhelmed or anxious and life feels unmanageable.  Or maybe you feel stuck, hopeless or depressed. Counselling can help us make sense of our life, be transformative and help us understand our relationships with ourselves and others.

My aim is to find a way of being in relationship with my clients that is collaborative, compassionate, authentic and egalitarian; providing a safe space that is supportive, respectful and non-judgemental.  Having a dedicated safe space to work through what you are experiencing can be transformative.  Emotions can be painful, and having someone trained and experienced to listen and support you can really help.

I completed my training at the University of Strathclyde with a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Person Centred Approach) though my training also includes psychodynamic and gestalt modalities. At the core of my practice is the belief that you as the client know what is best for you to bring about the change and growth you are looking for in your life.  I am there not to offer advice, but to companion you as you exploring the difficulties you are experiencing.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work within their ethical framework as part of my commitment to best practice and continued professional development.

Areas of special interests include meditation, mindfulness, working creatively with clients and creative writing.

Areas of professional experience include loss, bereavement, anxiety, depression, grief, identity, addiction and trauma.
