Beginning counselling can be a challenging choice. I offer a space, in which we can explore this choice together, recognising what has led you to take this step, and what needs and hopes you might be bringing into the counselling room.
I aim to build a trusting working relationship, from which we can observe rather than judge what might be going on for you. We will work towards increasing your awareness of the options available to you, to help you make choices in the areas of your life that are troubling you.
Different people benefit differently from counselling, and there are many reasons to enter therapy. I have worked with clients at different stages in their lives, ranging from university students looking to find their feet in the world to older individuals struggling with current or past life events. I value diversity and welcome inquiries from all different backgrounds. Every client is unique.
My counselling experience includes working with anxiety, depression, bereavement, abuse and neglect, living with illness, loss and transitions, questions around identity, sexuality, and relationships. I also have an interest in pain, and how we carry it in our bodies.
I completed person-centred and psychodynamic training as well as a Master in Counselling at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to this, I was active in qualitative market research.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As part of abiding by the BACP code of ethics, I take ongoing personal and professional development very seriously, regularly attending further training as well as personal therapy and clinical supervision.
Originally from Germany, I settled in Edinburgh in 2016. Though my training was completed in the English language, I am open to offering counselling in German.
Counselling is a courageous undertaking. If we decide to work together, I will commit to being alongside you through this – through difficult times, as well as personal achievements.
If you’re interested in working with me, you can contact me via email.
