Life is full of change, whether we choose it or not. Sometimes change is imposed on us and we struggle to adapt. Sometimes we know we need to make changes in our lives, but we don’t know how.

In my work as a counsellor, I’ve been privileged to see at first hand how, with the right support and understanding, my clients have been able to change and develop in ways that feel right for them.

As your therapist, I’ll bring all my training and life experience to help you grow through the challenges that life brings. I offer a warm, welcoming space in which I’ll support you with compassion, curiosity and insight. Together we can build a relationship that will help you understand and accept yourself more fully and move forward in your life. I approach all my work with a sense of hope and possibility.

I’m highly experienced in working with people who are struggling with anxiety and low mood, issues stemming from childhood, and difficulties in personal relationships. I have particular experience working with clients experiencing relationship breakdown and divorce, with additional training on the causes and impact of infidelity in relationships.

I have a specialist interest in supporting clients who are exploring questions or challenges around sex, sexual expression in all its forms, sexuality and identity. I offer a caring and non-judgemental space in which to unpack these issues in your own way and at your own pace. I hold a post-qualifying Certificate in Psychosexual Studies from Tavistock Relationships. I have also undertaken additional training at the Centre for Psychosexual Health, London, and have training in a wide range of areas including gender and relationship diversity, sex after sexual trauma, low sexual desire, compulsive sexual behaviours, polyamory aware therapy, and working with kinky clients.

I welcome clients of all genders, sexualities, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, ethnicities and personal experiences. I work with individual adults aged 18 and over.

My Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling (with Distinction) is from the University of Edinburgh, where I trained in both the person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. My Certificate in Psychosexual Studies was completed at Tavistock Relationships in London. I also have Honours and Masters degrees in Law. I am a Registered Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work within their code of ethics.

I have been in private practice as a counsellor for over 5 years and have many thousands of hours of client experience. Prior to this I worked in various counselling agencies in Edinburgh including PF Counselling. I have previously worked in a mental health crisis centre and in student counselling. I also have over a decade of experience in supporting people with workplace and career challenges.

Specialist interest areas:
Sex and sexuality, loss of relationship and divorce, men’s mental health, anxiety issues, questions around identity, relationship difficulties, life transitions, childhood issues.

I offer counselling in person from a therapy room in Edinburgh EH9 – Newington/Grange/Mayfield area. It is easily accessible by multiple bus routes and free parking is available on site. I also offer online therapy.
